Universal Music UK has extended its contract with arvato to include e-commerce fulfilment and delivery to end users.
Arvato has integrated Universal’s e-commerce order management systems with the existing B2B order management and warehouse management system already running at its Milton Keynes facility.
The contract now covers CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, headphones and clothing available on more than 70 artist stores including Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones, and Take That.
Customer service will be managed from arvato’s contact centre in Liverpool.
Steve Partridge, head of e-commerce at Universal, said: “As the music industry continues to evolve, we’re confident that arvato’s innovative and cost-effective approach will support our ambitious future e-commerce targets.”
Since the firms have been is business together arvato reckons it has achieved a 100 per cent completion rate on some 150 million units, and that it saved 25 per cent per unit.
