The G6 Alliance of container lines will begin services from the first week of March – one month ahead of schedule.
Last month the New World Alliance and the Grand Alliance announced that they were joining forces to create the GG6 Alliance.
Members include: APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui OSK, Hapag Lloyd, NYK and OOCL.
It will launch six services from the Far East to North Europe at the start of March.
A seventh service will follow depending on sustainable trading conditions. The seventh loop (Loop 2) will provide direct coverage to the Bay of Bohai ports of Dalian and Xingang. Until then, the Bay of Bohai will be served via feeder connections.
In addition to the existing Asia-Mediterranean Express Service, the alliance will launch a new Asia-Black Sea Express service in the first week of April.
