Sainsbury’s has set out plans to move boxed and hanging garment distribution from its Coventry depot to a larger site at Bedford which can accommodate forecast increases in volume.
The move would result in the phased close of the Coventry depot which is currently managed by DHL Supply Chain.
A DHL spokesperson said the depot was likely to close in the early part of 2013.
“Affected staff have been advised of the situation and will shortly enter into consultation with the company and elected representatives to discuss their options, which include transferring to other DHL operations in the area, re-deploying to the Bedford facility or to other sites in Sainsbury’s network. Staff will also be supported with outplacement / relocation services where appropriate.”
