Young’s Seafood has become the first major manufacturer to take space at Yearsley Group’s new ambient storage facility.
The seafood supplier has three factories in Grimsby and has stored frozen raw materials and finished products with Yearsleys for more than ten years. This new contract extends the amount of pallet space Young’s has with Yearsleys, to include non-frozen ingredients and packaging.
Scott Barker, Young’s distribution manager, said: “We have stored frozen materials and products with Yearsley Group for over a decade and made use of their vendor management service, NetStock on-line information system, and dedicated deliveries. They provide a very efficient and responsive service and, now they have capacity for non-frozen storage and distribution, it makes sense for us to consolidate all of our stock with one provider.”
Yearsley launched the Grimsby ambient storage facility in summer 2011, following the £500,000 refurbishment of an existing chamber.
It is now analysing which other manufacturing customers could benefit from this additional service, and which of its other 11 cold stores across the UK could incorporate a similar ambient storage facility for dry goods.
