Logistics is well represented in the 2012 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, which were announced on 21st April.
The awards recognise outstanding contributions to enterprise culture in the UK, and are made by the Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.
This year’s winners included:
Central Systems & Automation – Strategic warehouse and port management software systems
Cirrus Logistics – Provision of advanced simulation and scheduling software in the maritime, logistics and oil sectors
Electrocomponents – High service distributor of electronics and maintenance products
Millers Oils – Lubricants and additives for the automotive, commercial vehicle and industrial markets
Transdek – Innovation in the production and installation of modular hydraulic lifts to service double deck trailers
TRAKA – Intelligent lockers to allow the automatic issue, return and usage audit of high value portable devices
Ubisense – Precise real-time location tracking systems and geographical information systems
