Administrators have been appointed at Pallet Distribution Services Ltd, the Brentwood-based haulage and distribution firm. Simon and Daniel Plant of insolvency practitioners SFP were appointed joint ddministrators on 24th April 2012.
The company offered general haulage services covering South East England, storage, warehousing and nationwide pallet distribution. It cited the recent rises in fuel prices, as well as a very competitive market place, as major contributors to its cash-flow problems. It had an approximate annual turnover of £1.6 million and employed 20 people.
Simon Plant said: “Profit margins are constantly squeezed for transport companies, with increased competition and high running costs, so it seems inevitable that increases on fuel charges will have a major effect on these businesses.”
