Essex-based Canute has bought a 105,000 sq ft warehouse at Great Blakenham near Ipswich to support port-centric activities at Felixstowe.
The site will have up to 12,500 pallet spaces, small item picking and bulk stack areas, and Red-Prairie WMS, an optimised pallet storage system with multiple storage options. The site is expected to tranship in excess of 150,000 pallets annually.
The new site takes its UK network to 12 sites following the addition of the Coventry and Warrington depots.
Group sales director David Emslie said: “The location of the depot, with its close proximity to Felixstowe Port and the strategic links into the Canute Transport Network, will give the business an excellent opportunity to provide a wide range of competitive services for both warehouse and transport requirements.”
