ProLogis has unveiled proposals at a public exhibition for the redevelopment of the former Sainsbury’s depot in Buntingford in Hertfordshire.
The proposed scheme will involve the redevelopment of the existing site to provide a new 496,000 sq ft modern distribution facility which will comprise a 470,000 sq ft warehouse, 13,000 sq ft of offices as well as goods-in and goods-out facilities and plant.
The building is expected to be 5m lower than the current high bay depot.
An occupier for the centre will be sought once outline planning permission has been granted. The application will seek approval to access arrangements, site layout and overall scale of the building. The detailed design and landscaping proposals will be considered at a later date.
ProLogis is thought to be submitting the application in June.
The proposals will create up to 600 new jobs on site which will provide a boost to the local area.
There are a variety of job roles that are likely to be provided within a distribution facility including warehouse floor staff, drivers, office and administration and managerial positions.
