Hoyer, the Hamburg-based bulk delivery specialist, has reported sales of more than one billion euros in its last business year for the first time.
Sales rose five per cent from 2010 to 1,035m euros. Return on sales rose to 3.6 per cent against 2.7 per cent in 2010.
The strongest performance was in European intermodal and road freight in the chemicals branch (up by nine per cent) and intercontinental chemical transport (up by eight per cent).

Turnover in logistics business for liquid foodstuffs up by seven per cent also did better than average growth in the group. Together these activities account for more than 50 per cent of group turnover.
Chairman Thomas Hoyer said: “This trend makes it clear that we did our homework properly – and at the right time.”
