Iveco has launched the Stralis Hi-Way which it says is the only heavy duty truck on the market that meets Euro 6 emission limits without the use of exhaust gas recirculation.
Rather than go for EGR, the new Stralis has a “HI-eSCR” catalytic reduction system. Iveco says this allows it to simplify the after-treatment system and to use the same “body-in white” of the existing cab, as the engine does not require any additional cooling.
Iveco says the advantages of HI-eSCR include a weight reduction, lower fuel consumption and increased durability due to a less complex technology.
Alessandro Mortali, senior vice president heavy range Iveco, said: “The new Stralis maximises savings in all key cost areas. As a result, the total cost of ownership for the ten most common vehicle missions decreases by up to four per cent”.
The truck has a redesigned cabin, and integrated telematics systems. The external restyling of the cab has focused on improving vehicle aerodynamics and therefore fuel efficiency.
