St Austell Brewery is taking on Voiteq’s VoiceMan picking system for its Cornish distribution centre, replacing a paper based process.
Due to the complexity of its product pack mix including single bottles of wine, whole cases, kegs and casks, they selected a voice solution for its hands free simplicity using the Vocollect A500 Talkman computers and robust SR20 headsets.

The brewer has eight pickers and in its summer peak 6,000 order lines can be selected for around 800 of its 2,000 customers across the South West.
VoiteQ’s Voiceman middleware will integrate with the brewer’s existing Chorus ERP system from Isis.
Nick Dawson, head of IT, said: “We have been looking to modernise the transaction processes in the DC to improve our operational efficiency and overall customer service. The VoiceMan middleware is the ideal solution, as it simply extends the functionality of what we already have, without making major changes to the core ERP system code.”
St Austell has been brewing beer and real ale in Cornwall since 1851 and has 2,500 free trade customers.
Dawson said; “Voice meets our business requirements by improving both our accuracy and productivity, as well as enabling us to eliminate the large amount of paper we currently use.”
