Convenience food producer Greencore is replacing its tractor and chilled trailer fleet under a contract hire agreement with Ryder.
The new vehicles comprise 25 x 44 tonne 6×2 DAF 460 bhp tractor units matched with 27 single temperature trailers built by Montracon.
The fleet is based at Greencore’s manufacturing site at Kiveton in Sheffield. With a distribution network stretching from Scotland to the south coast, each vehicle covers in the region of 550 miles a day, and must meet tight half-hour delivery slots.
Ryder, which has worked with Greencore for 25 years, won the contract by competitive tender. A spokesperson at Greencore said: “Using a contract hire agreement with Ryder gives us peace of mind. Not only do we have a single point of contact for our tractors and trailers, but we also have the reassurance that our fleet is continually being maintained.”
