Retailer Home Bargains is heading south with plans for a new 700,000 sq ft regional distribution warehouse at Barwood and Clowes Development’s Imperium scheme at Solstice Park in Amesbury, Wiltshire.
The retailing brand owned by TJ Morris is opening 50 new stores a year and wants to grow from its current 290 shops to 700 nationwide.

Joe Morris, the firm’s operations director, said that the Solstice Park site would “spearhead the firm’s expansion” into the south.
The facility will support up to 300 new Home Bargains stores across the south of the country. Home Bargains currently has 270 retail stores in the UK, including one in Trowbridge, it wants to open southern stores from Cornwall to East Anglia, including several in Wiltshire.
The distribution centre is expected to provide up to 1,200 jobs for the area.
Outline planning permission has been approved, and if final permission is granted, work could begin in April. It is expected to take about 18 months before the site opens.
TJ Morris completed a purpose-built £35million warehouse and distribution in 2010 at the company’s headquarters in Gillmoss, Liverpool.
The distribution centre currently services all of the Home Bargains stores across the UK.
Savills and Colliers acted for Clowes and Barwood. TJ Morris was unrepresented.
