B&Q has awarded Wincanton a multi-million contract to support its multi-channel operations in the UK.
Wincanton will manage B&Q’s 1 million sq ft Showroom Fulfilment Centre at Burton on Trent, which houses the retailer’s kitchen, bathroom and bedroom ranges. It reckons it will handle about nine million cases of merchandise a year.

“We have a long-standing relationship with B&Q and are of course extremely pleased to be associated with one of the UK retail sector’s biggest and most respected brands,” said Guy Elliott, managing director, contract logistics for Wincanton.
This is the third contract Wincanton has won with B&Q this year. One contract is for its national planning department and involves Wincanton planning all transport routes for B&Q, fulfilling some 500,000 customer orders. The other is with the container business.
Wincanton chief Eric Born said: “As the high street continues to evolve, embracing mobile commerce to ‘click and collect’ ordering, we will continue to ensure that Wincanton is at the forefront, innovating and developing our proposition to meet the exacting demands of our customer base.”
