Yearsley Group has completed the purchase of the business and assets of Partner Logistics Hams Hall Ltd following the operation of the business on licence from July.
It has also acquired the freehold of the Hams Hall warehouse from Ropemaker Properties Ltd.
Managing director Harry Yearsley said: “The location of this cold store could not be better for consolidating stock from around the UK and abroad, and delivering into many of the leading retailers NDCs.
“Consolidation of stock from manufacturers not only makes for more efficient delivery into major retail and food service organisations, it also contributes to reducing carbon output. We are forecasting that Hams Hall will be 60 per cent full by March 2013”
The 200,000 sq ft automated cold storage has capacity for 42,000 pallets. With the addition of Hams Hall, Yearsley Group now has 13 regional depots, a national pallet capacity exceeding 320,000 and a fleet of more than 300 temperature-controlled vehicles.
The acquisition comes 3 months after Yearsley Group began work on the expansion of its Heywood headquarters to create a northern ‘superhub’ to meet demand for new contracts, which will increase capacity by a further 40,000 to 80,000 pallets by next year.
