When Asda commissioned its first national distribution centre for general merchandise in 2007, Wincanton was awarded the contract to operate the 655,000 sq ft new build site in Doncaster. The operation delivers to Asda distribution centres across the UK & Northern Ireland, handling over 10,000 product lines.
Asda distribution director Ian Stansfield, said: “Both the Doncaster and Larne sites have delivered excellent service levels to our stores and the Wincanton team work seamlessly with the Asda business to develop solutions to support this rapidly changing business. It is a measure of our confidence in Wincanton that we have not only awarded them the contract to operate our new distribution centre in Rochdale but also extend our current contractual relationship at these existing distribution centres.”
