Schenker-Seino has signed a ten year lease agreement with Redwood for a build-to-suit warehouse in the greater Tokyo area.
The logistics facility will be 96,875 sq ft and with four floors its total footprint will be some 355,000 sq ft is set to be operational in September 2013.
It will be the largest of Schenker-Seino’s warehouses to date, and is located between the major airports Narita and Haneda and near the Tokyo port.
Target customers will be Non-Japanese companies that are planning to expand their Japan business.
Herbert Wilhelm, president and chief executive of Schenker-Seino said: “This ultramodern and environmentally exemplary building will help us to remain one of the premier logistics services providers in Japan. We very much look forward to having this facility as an addition to our already existing logistics centres for the benefit of our customers.”
A photovoltaic power generation system consisting of 2,940 solar panels on the roof will save up to 30 per cent on energy costs.
