Cruise operator Carnival UK has renewed its contract with Meachers to replenish cruise ships at Southampton as well as to major ports around the world.
The contract involves inventory control, warehousing, consolidation, pick and pack, back office support and the containerisation and export of product to meet the ships requirements worldwide.
It has been expanded to incorporate consolidation of all food and beverage supplies involving several thousand new products. Meachers will increase its dedicated warehousing space in Southampton to over 50,000 square feet to accommodate the cruise lines’ requirements. It has also taken on seven staff to service the expanded contract.
Goods can range from ship’s propellers and turbines through to luxury carpets, industrial washing machines, dining tables and chairs.
Carnival’s brands include Cunard, Princess, Seabourn and P&O Cruise.
Ian Strangeway, director of supply chain services, said: “As our business has grown it has become vital that we have a single point of control for all of our all UK warehousing, consolidation and distribution activities. We have been fortunate to have developed a long term relationship with Meachers and we are confident that their experience and focused approach will deliver tangible improvements to support our supply chain strategy.”
