Chancellor George Osborne has cancelled to the 3 pence per litre fuel duty rise that was planned for 1st January.
He announced the move in his Autumn statement after admitting that the UK economy would shrink by 0.1 per cent this year – worse than expected.
As a result of this decision on fuel duty, the 2013-14 increase will be deferred to 1 September 2013 – meaning fuel duty will have been frozen for nearly two and a half years.
