AGCO, the supplier of agricultural spare parts, has awarded the contract to manage its aftermarket parts distribution centre in Johannesburg, South Africa to Kuehne + Nagel.
Under the contract K + N will deliver parts across South Africa and neighbouring countries in Africa. The deal also covers receiving, inventory control, picking and packing, handling of dangerous goods as well as pre-packaging and returns handling of AGCO’s spare parts.
Peter Adams, senior vice president of K + N contract logistics South Africa, said: “We are delighted that AGCO has awarded its inbound supply chain and warehouse operations in South Africa to us.”
The parts DC near the O.R. Tambo International Airport, has capacity for 40,000 items and began operations in December 2012.
Kuehne + Nagel also provides seafreight and airfreight inbound services of parts originating from Turkey, France, Brazil and India and is responsible for the facility’s maintenance and security.
