Brewer Greene King has ordered 20 customised drays from Ryder in a continuation of the full-service lease deal agreed last year.
The vehicles are 26-tonne six-by-two DAF CF rigids with Don-Bur bodies. They are customised to ensure that the cargo floor is at dray drivers’ waist height rather than at chest height.
Greene King operates more than 100 vehicles from distribution centres at Bury St Edmunds, Abingdon and Nottingham.
Rob Carter, distribution centre manager – Bury St Edmunds, said: “We chose Ryder because they are able to deliver the bespoke specification necessary to meet our operations. The lower cargo floor significantly reduces manual handling risks for our dray drivers when offloading kegs at pubs, restaurants and hotels.”
