Home delivery specialist Hermes has expanded its delivery fleet with 87 trucks on contract hire from Ryder.
The new trucks include 14 DAF four by two tractor units and 73 DAF 18t, 12t and 7.5t rigids, all fitted with DAF Aerobodies.
This brings the total number of Ryder contract hire vehicles in the Hermes fleet to 373 trucks and 118 trailers. The trucks operate from Hermes hubs at Warrington and Nuneaton and 21 radial depots across the UK.
Rob Elmore, Hermes’ fleet services manager, said: “We handle more than 160 million collections and deliveries per annum via our network of 8,000 couriers and it is essential that this operation has the resources in place to meet the precise needs of our retail customers. Our relationship with Ryder ensures we have the flexibility to meet demand and continue to provide high levels of service.”
