Yodel expects to distribute 500,000 books on 23rd April, St George’s Day, as part of its partnership with World Book Night.
400,000 of the books will be delivered to “Givers”, volunteers who will act as reading advocates to those who don’t regularly read or don’t have access to books, and the remaining 100,000 will be given directly to hospitals, prisons, literacy teachers and further volunteers in remote areas.
Neil Lloyd, chief executive of Yodel, said: “Yodel makes nearly 3.5 million book deliveries each year across the UK, both to independent booksellers and retail chains as well as direct to consumers.
