SuperGroup, the company that owns the Superdry brand, has entered a long term agreement with Clipper Logistics and invested in a new distribution centre in Burton-on-Trent, as part of its infrastructure investment.
The agreement will see Clipper provide fulfilment for the group’s retail activities from the 500,000 sq ft multi-channel facility.
The centre is set to be in full operation towards the end of financial year 2014, until which the company’s current facilities in Gloucester Park and Barnwood will continue to operate.
SuperGroup is investing around £5 million in the new site. It said the investment would generate significant savings and improve operating margins in the long run.
“This investment marks SuperGroup moving into the next major phase of development and equipping itself to meet its increasing sales ambition, said chief executive Julian Dunkerton.
“Ideally located, SuperGroup will have a highly efficient UK distribution centre, enabling the Group to generate both financial and operational benefits and provide a platform for us to meet the increasing demands of e-fulfilment.”
The investment is due to support planned growth for at least the next five years.
