Wincanton has won a six-year warehousing and distribution contract with Tilda Rice. It will collect rice from the company’s two production sites in Rainham and transport it to the Wincanton shared-user facility in West Thurrock.
The goods will then be picked and distributed to Tilda’s customers, which include major retailers, wholesalers and food outlets across the UK.
Wincanton will also manage the food brand’s shipping to America and transport operations into mainland Europe, using a range of transport options such as dedicated vehicles, its own fleet network and sub-contractors.
Jeremy Roberts, head of supply chain for Tilda, said: “We were looking for a business partner that could not only demonstrate innovation within the supply chain, but which also shared our commitment to reducing our overall operational impact on the environment.”
While Wincanton’s managing director Chris Kingshott described winning the contract as a major endorsement of Wincanton’s capabilities and standing in the industry.
