The Rail Freight Group says it is disappointed by the Scottish government’s National Planning Framework 3, as it makes little reference to the vital role rail freight plays in Scotland’s transport infrastructure.
The report neglects the role of rail freight and the key hubs in Coatbridge, Grangemouth and Mossend, which RFG says is surprising after Transport Scotland recently awarded a number of grants in support of rail freight flows.
“RFG will be arguing strongly for proper recognition of the role that rail freight, and the key strategic hubs, play in the efficient delivery of our imports and exports,” said David Spaven, RFG’s Scottish representative.
“This is vital to the Scottish economy, and deserves full inclusion in the Planning Framework.”
