Allied Bakeries, which is responsible for the Kingsmill, Allison and Sunblest brands, has chosen the Isotrak telematics system for its delivery fleet.
The new system, with live digital tachograph linkage, will track 1,000 vehicles across Allied Bakeries 19 UK sites, including Northern Ireland. The system includes trailer-tracking functionality.
Paul Hannant, head of logistics strategy at Allied Bakeries, said: “Trailer tracking is another step forward for Allied Bakeries. It will ensure we maintain legal compliance for our network trailers, enabling us to monitor the service we’re providing for our customers and also locate the units easily and quickly. We’ll be able to analyse how we use our trailer resources and ensure we have the right number of units at the right locations.”
He said that Isotrak was also the system of choice for major retail customers. “We are keen to explore how we can integrate our own system with theirs, so we can develop a common platform for vehicle tracking. This is just one of the future aspirations we have for developing the system for our business. We are also implementing SAP business software; and we intend to integrate Isotrak with our route optimisation system so that we can provide live data back to SAP.”
Allied Bakeries is also considering using mobile data terminals linked to Isotrak for a range of benefits.
