Toyota Material Handling has launched a forklift design competition for European design students with a prize of €4,000 for the winner.
The theme is: “Tow tractors: industrial machines in need of a makeover”.
Toyota says that to fit into a modern intralogistics environment, the tow tractors need a refresh: on top of being heavy-duty, robust, safe and reliable to carry loads over long distances, and helping save time, energy and money, they should equally be stylish.
Magnus Oliveira Andersson, Head of Design Centre at Toyota Material Handling Europe, said: “We want participants to be inventive, original and daring in their creation of the tow tractor. We would like them to concentrate on the aesthetic value, but also consider today’s material handling challenges such as sustainability.
“The end product must reflect the Toyota heritage and our core product values: Safety, Durability, Productivity, Driveability and Simplicity.”
The competition is open to design students and 2013 graduates and the prize will go to the most original and innovative entry selected by a jury consisting of experts and industry professionals.
Registration closes on 14th September.
