A new board game aiming to teach school children about logistics and the role it plays in modern society has won a £9,500 grant from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), as part of its Inspiring Enterprise initiative.
Created by former schoolteachers Andy Page and Pat Smedley, “Business on the Move” sees players responsible for running a business, where they have to respond to customers’ demands and move products to their domestic market by combinations of air, sea, rail and road.
It challenges participants to not only act quickly, but profitably and environmentally responsibly.
“The RBS Inspiring Enterprise grant funding is very significant because it will enable the hundreds of free games being supplied by our business sponsors to be supported by a quality training programme for teachers, said Smedley.
“This training will ensure that young people get the full benefit of the Business on the Move experience.”
The game will go into production this autumn, with 1,500 copies set to reach around 15,000 young people throughout schools and training providers across the UK.
