Private postal company TNT Post is expanding its end-to-end delivery service into South West London creating 500 new posties.
The areas covered include Hammersmith & Fulham, Wandsworth, Merton and Lambeth.
The company started trials of the end-to-end service in April 2012 in West and Central London.
TNT Post will deliver its clients’ mail directly to households and businesses in South West London using track and trace technology where every letter is scanned before delivery.
Royal Mail will also continue to deliver the mail directly to households and businesses in the area.
TNT Post is part of PostNL, the Dutch post office. Chief executive officer Nick Wells said: “With a 98.5 per cent first attempt delivery rate and track and trace technology, TNT Post is committed to delivering an innovative and efficient service to the residents and business community in South West London. We are pleased to be able to create 500 new jobs in the area, especially for the long term unemployed and young people.”
The move is part of an expansion programme which the company expects to result in the creation of 20,000 jobs across the UK in the next five years.
