AV Dawson has introduced a one-off new livery to one of its Scania trucks, to mark the company’s 75th birthday.
The company has just invested £10m in infrastructure expansion. The first phase, the £2.5m Tees Riverside Intermodal Park at its site follows a 250 per cent increase in its container handling and filling business.
The firm was started by Arthur “Vernie” Dawson and his wife in 1938, when they invested £50 in a horse, her shoes and a cart for her to pull and sell coal.
Vernie’s grandson currently runs the business, which has expanded from eight vehicles with ten drivers, to 32 vehicles with 40 drivers, over the past ten years.
