Kimberly-Clark has won this year’s SCALA Fresh Connection Supply Chain Competition UK finals, and will now represent the country in the global finals in Istanbul, in September.
Having displayed a wide range of skills throughout the competition, the finals saw teams having to deal with category management, sustainability and collaborate with other companies such as suppliers and retail customers.
Ray Norris, European supply chain director at Kimberly-Clark, said: “We have been a long-term supporter of the Fresh Connection so I am absolutely delighted with our team’s exceptional performance.
“They have led from the early rounds and maintained a highly consistent approach, continuously improving the supply chain from round to round to achieve a 12 per cent ROI.“
Second place went to engineering manufacturing firm Borg Warner, whose team was formed of engineers and not supply chain professionals.
“We work closely with Huddersfield University and support the Fresh Connection in their degree programme, said Borg Warner’s Simon Malins.
“It is a fabulous way of learning about the supply chain and the need for collaboration and communication across procurement, manufacturing, supply chain and sales.”
Mondolez came in at third place and additional awards were given to companies such as Waitrose, for top retailer, and Norbert Dentressangle, for top service/support provider.
