DHL Global Forwarding has become one of the first to test the Tworty Box, a new container which the company says enables a standard 40ft container to be created from two 20 ft containers.
It sees two 20 ft boxes with doors at both ends, the second of which opens to the inside. This means if two boxes are joined together, the additional doors will remain open by being fixed to the container ceiling, to create 40 ft of space.
“The Tworty Box is an excellent alternative for customers who see strong ups and downs in supply and demand of different container sizes in certain areas,” said Andreas Boedeker, global head ocean freight, DHL Global Forwarding.
