Pharmaceutical group Actavis has awarded a contract to Agility and H Essers Pharma Logistics division, to manage an integrated control tower operation.
Actavis focuses on developing, manufacturing and distributing generic, brand and biosimilar products.
The Bristol-based control tower provides Actavis with visibility of its global freight movements – via a single, strategic platform and a unified data set.
The freight management system increases visibility on the physical, information and financial flows, delivering increased cost efficiency and supply chain GDP-compliance for Actavis.
The integrated team is based at Agility’s Bristol branch in the UK, and H Essers’ headquarters in Genk, Belgium. Together, they manage Actavis’ European and global freight movements across air, ocean and road.
In May, Actavis announced plans to take over Warner Chilcott to create a business with global sales of $11bn a year.
Stephan Dülk, Agility’s European vice president for life science, said the contract “underlines how innovative technology can super-charge the management of pharmaceutical supply chains while delivering intelligence that helps our customers make smart business decisions”.
Ralf Schneider of H Essers said: “This cooperation acts as the basis for the full IT integration, offering Actavis the service and visibility that is essential in today’s supply chain.”
