CA Group has completed the installation of a 495 sq m SolarWall transpired solar collector at Royal Mail’s new Parcelforce distribution centre in Chorley, Lancashire.
Royal Mail has estimated that it will save it around 145,508 kWh and 28.81 tonnes of CO2 a year. The technology generates up to 500 Watts of thermal energy per square metre and uses solar radiation to deliver naturally warmed fresh air into buildings.
The SolarWall is the third TSC to be installed for Royal Mail and is part of the company’s corporate and social responsibility commitment, which sees it integrate sustainable design where possible, with the aim of reducing carbon footprint.
Project development engineer at CA Group, Andrew Brewster, said: “SolarWall was selected by Royal Mail as part of its in-depth sustainability review.”
