David Frankish, chief executive officer at NFT, has been named a UK finalist at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2013.
Frankish was a Midlands region winner in the Private Equity backed Sprue Aegis Plc category at the regional awards dinner on 18th June.
“I am honoured to receive this accolade and hope that I can achieve further success for NFT in the UK finals. My time with NFT has always been a tremendously rewarding experience,” he said. “I would like to thank every member of the fantastic NFT team for making this journey possible.”
Frankish began his career as a trainee accountant with the British Transport Docks Board, now known as Associated British Ports, before moving to Northern Dairies as a management accountant.
In 1985 he moved over to join NFT, a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Foods plc, where he was promoted to finance director in 1991. After the de-merger of the milk distribution interests, David was appointed managing director of the remaining grocery distribution operations before leading a management buy out from Northern Foods in 2006.
The overall UK winner will be announced at the UK Award dinner on 7th October and will then compete for the title of World Entrepreneur Of The Year in Monte Carlo in June 2014.
