Cambridgeshire haulier Masters Logistical carried on virtually uninterrupted following a warehouse fire.
The fire broke out in a trailer next to one of its warehouses at Stretham near Ely. The warehouse and surrounding area was evacuated immediately and no one was hurt.
Managing director Paul Upton said: “The emergency services are to be commended for their speedy actions, which ensured the flames were put out within hours, which allowed the site to reopen the following morning. Although the fire damaged one warehouse beyond repair, another was able to reopen immediately. The third warehouse is expected to open within the next few days.”
“The incident was handled calmly and decisively, and robust contingency measures were swiftly established. The rapid response included setting up an emergency operation centre the same night, on the premises of fellow Palletline member Potter Logistics, for which we remain hugely grateful,” he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and it is not thought to be suspicious.
The business achieved 100 per cent delivery success the day following the incident.
