Emirates SkyCargo has begun construction of a new cargo terminal, to support its facilities at Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International Airport, which is set to become the home of the company’s freighter operations from May 2014.
Due for completion in September 2014, the new terminal will manage 700,000 tonnes of cargo a year.
The company says the facility will also enable it to expand its perishables handling area, with a dedicated pharmaceutical storage area, therefore expanding its cool chain products and services.
Emirates SkyCargo will also install 46 truck docks, 80 parking spaces and 12 aircraft stands.
