Glossop-based David G Davies & Sons has become the first British operator to order DAF’s Euro 6 emissions compliant XF Super Space Cab, which has now gone into service.
Running with a Montracon tri-axle curtain-side trailer, the truck is set to cover around 120,000 kilometres a year around the country.
Transport manager and director, Chris Davies, said: “I felt that as we would have to accept Euro 6 at some point we should get one well in advance of the 2013 year end deadline and see how it performs.”
“It’s incredibly quiet and the 12-speed AS Tronic gearbox is very smooth. Ryan Pennington, the driver who has been allocated the truck, is also delighted with the drive and overall performance of the truck,” said Davies
Designed by Devon-based artist Adam Haydon, the new XF cab is painted in an airbrushed livery based on the famous 1903 book “Call of the Wild” by Jack London.
