John Smith has been appointed as GEFCO UK’s new human resources director, where he will take responsibility of the company’s UK operations.
Prior to joining GEFCO in June this year, Smith held the position of senior HR business partner at Wincanton, where he was in charge of a team of 13 direct reports, such as HR business partners, and regional, contract and site HR managers.
Smith’s new team will include, for the first time, a HR business partner specifically responsible for talent management.
“For me, it’s all about developing talent across the company to support GEFCO’s ambitious plans for growth over the coming years,” he said.
“A particular focus is to attract bright young graduates and school leavers to GEFCO by offering them an opportunity to learn on the job through both our existing Graduate Programme, and new apprenticeship and internship initiatives.”
