Allport Cargo Services has rolled out TOPS…on the go software across 140 vehicles including its own fleet and sub-contractors’ vehicles.
TOPS…on the go enables drivers to receive job information and transmit PODs via their smart phone.
Allport has been encouraging its transport sub-contractors in invest in the system to ensure that clients receive the same logistics service irrespective of which company undertakes the delivery.
Senior transport manager Tony Belton said: “Our focus was on the business efficiencies we could achieve through electronic delivery of PODs, getting instructions to drivers and the operational benefits the system would deliver.”
Steve Collins of Fargo Systems, the creator of TOPS, said: “TOPS…on the go can provide substantial time savings through its administrative and electronic POD systems, also the operational efficiencies can translate into a potential increase in in vehicle movements.”
