Merseyside-based Abbey Logistics Group has invested more than £1.5 million in ten new DAF XF105 tractor units and 15 Feldbinder dry powder tanks to its fleet, as part of its recent transport contract win with producer of lime products Lhoist UK.
Lhoist’s products are used within agriculture, the construction industry, the chemical industry, and in food production.
The new vehicles have now gone live and are operating out of Lhoist’s facilities in Hindlow, near Buxton, and Kirkby Stephen, in Cumbria.
They are being used to carry both liquid and dry limestone in tanks, as well as palletised loads of bagged materials.
Abbey says the trucks will cover an excess of 100,000 km in the UK a year.
