Liebherr, the construction machinery group, has started work on a new logistics centre near Kirchdorf an der Iller in Baden-Württemberg.
The centre will supply spare parts for earthmoving machines. In the long term, the group plans to transfer spare parts logistics for more of its construction machinery sectors to this site.
The first part of the logistics centre, a 47,000 sq m building, is set to be completed in the third quarter of 2014. It will open for business in 2015 and cost €100m.
When the centre is completed, Liebherr will have a 360,000 sq m site boasting hall space of around 170,000 sq m and 4,500 sq m of office space.
The Liebherr Group’s holding company is Liebherr-International AG in Bulle, Switzerland, which is entirely owned by members of the Liebherr family.
