Online fashion retailer ASOS has awarded Norbert Dentressangle a three-year £100m contract to manage its worldwide distribution centre, in Barnsley. The contract was previously held by Unipart Logistics.
Offering more than 60,000 branded and own label product lines, ASOS ships to customers in 241 countries around the world.
The Barnsley warehouse has 1.1 million sq ft of floor space, and ASOS has submitted a proposal to expand the facility by 25 per cent.
The company said it chose Norbert for the new deal due to its online and multi-channel retail experience and capabilities, as well as its ability to support this planned growth.
1,200 of Unipart’s staff at the site were given the opportunity to transfer to Norbert Dentressangle.
ASOS opened the Barnsley site in mid-2011. In April, it announced plans to expand the DC by 25 per cent by 2014 to provide the capacity to meet its £1 billion sales target by 2015.
