The Road Haulage Association has teamed up ScreenSafe to create the RHA Smart Test, which it says will cover all aspects of drug and alcohol screening.
The service will include policy writing, sample collection, laboratory analysis, and training and education.
RHA members will get discounted rates, and receive free consultations with an expert on substance misuse, who will offer a tailored solution to their individual needs.
“Drugs and alcohol can affect drivers’ responses and cause accidents – in 2010, nearly 10,000 reported road casualties happened when a driver was over the legal alcohol limit,” said commercial director at ScreenSafe, Michael May.
“Our nationwide network of account managers is ready to help RHA members with expert support and advice on setting up drug and alcohol screening programmes or protocols, tailored for the haulage sector.”
