Global independent petroleum refiner, Valero, has awarded Wincanton a five-year contract renewal, to manage the scheduling and planning of its UK deliveries, including taking and managing customer orders.
The new deal expands the two companies’ 20-year partnership, and will see Wincanton transport more than two billion litres (440m gallons) of fuel a year, operating from Valero’s UK terminals.
Wincanton will now operate a 24/7 service for the company where it will take around 600 orders a day, before scheduling and planning delivery to more than 1,000 UK locations.
Valero, which is based in San Antonio, Texas, acquired the Pembroke Refinery in south west Wales from Chevron in 2011, marking its entry in the European refining market. The refinery is one of the largest, most complex in Western Europeand makes products including petrol, diesel fuel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas and petrochemical feedstocks.
