Professional Parcel Logistics, a fully-owned subsidiary of DHL Freight, has invested €24.7 million (£20.8 million) in its largest parcel hub in the Czech Republic, which it says is capable of handling up to 18,000 parcels an hour.
Located in Rícany-Jazlovice, the site will serve as both the new central hub for parcel shipments and as a regional depot for the region.
“The need for a bigger and better parcel hub was driven by a continuous growth of B2B and B2C parcel shipments in recent years,” said chief executive officer at DHL Freight, Eastern Southern Europe and Americas, Middle East, Africa, Stefano Arganese.
“The new capacity and sorting technology allow us to cope with the growing volume of shipments and strengthen our position in the fast shipments market in the Czech Republic.”
