Hermes has awarded Michelin a three-year contract renewal, to supply its latest generation fuel saving tyres to Hermes’ trunking vehicles.
Hermes had previously fitted Michelin XTE3 regional trailer tyres to its fleet of 490 trucks and 450 trailers, but decided to trial the company’s Energy SaverGreen XT fitments last year.
The company said that the combination of the new tyres and the 300 new Cartwright Cheetah Fastback trailers used for the trial, reduced each vehicles’ fuel consumption by 4.5 per cent compared to standard tyres and trailers.
“For a fleet of our size, this adds up to significant savings; and as a direct result we have now started to specify Michelin’s latest low rolling resistance tyres on our tractor units too,” said Hermes’ fleet manager, Rob Elmore.
