Western Bioenergy has awarded Stobart Biomass Products a 15-year contract, to supply around 150,000 tonnes of biomass fuel to Western’s current biomass plant at Port Talbot, in South Wales, each year.
The deal will see Stobart Biomass supply approximately 50 per cent of a mix of virgin wood and grade A recycled wood itself, and manage and process the remainder, which will be supplied by a third party.
It is Western’s first contract since its acquisition by Greensphere Capital, and has seen Stobart invest £800,000 in a small stake in the equity and debt of the project.
