Procter & Gamble’s joint venture with Tesco has been awarded a national IGD Award for the transformation of their business in the last year.
The two companies launched a “one company approach” to their supply chains, to challenge traditional company boundaries to work in a new way to benefit shoppers.
IGD said the project resulted in better on-shelf availability and significant reductions in transport costs and carbon emissions.
“The judges chose P&G-Tesco as the winner because of the enormity of the challenges they overcame to build trust and relationships across multiple departments, as well as organisational and geographical boundaries,” said Matt Clark, director at Boxwood, who sponsored the award.
Tesco also won an award for its web portal, Tesco Connect, which shares data and insight on sales forecasts with more than 2,000 of its suppliers.
